About Me
Jenna Yoder, LCSWShe/Her
Finding the “right” therapist can be a daunting task. Therapy is often a place where you are most vulnerable, so it’s important to feel safe and connected with the provider. In this section, I’d like to tell you a little about myself. This is one step in knowing whether you feel we could be a good fit
I attended Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida and received my undergraduate degree in Social Work in 2007. I then attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and graduated with my graduate degree in Social Work in 2010. From there I entered the community mental health field where I worked in Community Youth Services of Memorial Healthcare System, providing assessments, and individual, family, and group counseling to adolescents and parents. I co-facilitated psycho-educational groups for adolescents and parents with substance abuse and DJJ involvement. While working at Memorial I obtained my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in 2013. In 2015 I made the decision to transition from community mental health to private practice as a way to have flexibility in my schedule and to work with populations I am the most passionate about.
On a personal note, I’m a mom of both the two legged and four legged variety. I love Harry Potter and will most likely use references to the movies/books if applicable to a moment in session. In general, I love to use movies and books as a way to parallel situations that happen to us in real life. I’m an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction books. If you’re open to suggestions, I find giving clients recommendations for books, podcasts, or social media content can be a wonderful way to compliment our work in the therapy space.
